The cheapest peptide quote can become the most expensive box at your door.
One supplier quotes a low vial price but excludes printing, freight, insurance, customs fees, and local delivery. Another quote looks higher because more of the real order is already included. Comparing only the first number rewards missing information.
Peptide landed cost is the full cost to bring an order to the buyer, including product, packaging, freight, insurance, duties, fees, and local delivery.
Use landed cost to compare complete orders, not attractive fragments.
What is included in peptide landed cost?
Your worksheet may include:
- product cost;
- custom production or setup charges;
- vial labels, boxes, inserts, and cartons;
- testing or buyer-requested documents;
- export handling;
- international freight;
- cargo insurance;
- import duty;
- customs broker and clearance fees;
- government processing fees;
- storage or inspection charges;
- bank or currency-conversion fees; and
- delivery from the port or airport to your facility.
Not every order has every cost. The important step is assigning each cost to the buyer or seller before comparing suppliers.
Landed cost formula
Use this simple planning formula:
Landed cost = product + setup + packaging + testing + export + freight + insurance + duty + import fees + local delivery
Then calculate:
Landed cost per vial = total landed cost ÷ total usable vials received
For a 10-vial box:
Landed cost per box = total landed cost ÷ total saleable boxes received
Use usable or saleable units, not only the invoice quantity. Damaged packaging, short shipments, and unusable labels can change the real cost.
Why can two peptide prices be impossible to compare?
| Quote difference | What may be hiding |
|---|---|
| Price per vial vs price per box | Different pricing units |
| Standard vs private-label package | Printing and setup excluded from one quote |
| Stock vs custom production | Different specification and lead-time basis |
| EXW vs delivered quote | Most freight work may sit with the buyer |
| Basic COA vs extra testing | Different document and quality scope |
| Deposit vs full prepayment | Different cash-flow cost |
First make the specification identical. Then make the commercial scope identical.

How do shipping terms change landed cost?
A three-letter shipping term can move major costs and risks between the parties.
The International Chamber of Commerce explains that Incoterms define selected buyer and seller obligations, risk transfer, and certain costs. The quotation should name both the rule and place.
Ask:
- Who collects goods from the factory?
- Who books international freight?
- Who buys cargo insurance?
- When does risk transfer?
- Who acts as importer?
- Who clears customs?
- Who pays duties and taxes?
- Who delivers to the final address?
“Freight included” does not answer all eight questions.
How should U.S. import value be handled?
Use truthful commercial documents.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the commercial invoice should show the price the U.S. buyer paid for the goods, not the later U.S. resale price. CBP also explains that certain additions may need to be included in declared value. Review the current CBP commercial-invoice guidance with your customs professional.
CBP separately explains that import entries can involve duties and processing fees. Rates and treatment depend on the goods, value, origin, and entry. See the CBP duties and fees overview.
Do not ask a supplier to undervalue an invoice. A lower declared number is not a legitimate cost-saving strategy.

What costs are often forgotten?
Buyers commonly miss:
- artwork correction and reprinting;
- excess custom packaging inventory;
- cold-chain materials where required;
- split-shipment charges;
- bank wire and currency costs;
- customs exams or storage;
- relabeling after an error;
- damaged-unit allowance; and
- the cost of running out of inventory while waiting for a replacement.
The last item does not appear on a freight invoice, but it can be the largest commercial loss.
When is a higher quote actually better?
A higher unit price may deliver a lower business cost when it includes:
- the correct specification;
- batch-linked documents;
- dependable packaging;
- fewer setup charges;
- a clearer delivery scope;
- lower damage risk;
- more predictable lead time; or
- better repeat-order consistency.
Price still matters. It should simply be measured after quality and scope match.

Frequently asked questions
What is peptide landed cost?
Peptide landed cost is the full cost to bring an order to the buyer, including product, packaging, freight, insurance, duties, fees, and local delivery.
Is landed cost the same as the supplier's unit price?
No. Unit price covers the quoted product basis. Landed cost adds the other expenses required to place the goods at the buyer's chosen location.
How do I compare two bulk peptide quotes?
Put both quotes on the same product specification, quantity, packaging, document scope, shipping term, destination, payment basis, and landed-cost worksheet.
Are duties always included in a delivered peptide quote?
Not automatically. The named shipping term and contract should state who handles import clearance, duties, taxes, and local delivery.
Can Certiva provide a destination-based bulk quote?
Yes. Send the product, specification, quantity, packaging, documents, country, postal code, and target date so Certiva can confirm the applicable quote basis.
